Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp in Maharashtra. This time it is starting from 02 September, which will be completed on 12 September on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. This festival, which begins with the establishment of Ganapati on Ganesh Chaturthi, is completed with the immersion of Lord Ganapati on Anant Chaturdashi. Ganeshotsav lasts for 10 days
Pandals are being built in different parts of the country including Maharashtra to establish Ganapati Bappa, the god of strength, intelligence and good fortune. The festival, which started to promote mutual brotherhood, lasts for 10 days. This year will start from 02 September and will run till 12 September.
Ganapati Bappa is worshiped daily during these 10 days. He loves modak, so this is offered in enjoyment. Ganapati Aarti is done every day in the morning and evening. Songs, music and bhajan sandhas are also organized near the pandals in many places.
On the 12th day, Ganapati Bappa is said to leave with pomp and immersion. With this desire, Bappa is said to leave for the next year to come again and remove our obstacles and fulfill the desires.
History of Ganeshotsav
According to historical facts, Ganeshotsav started in the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He started organizing it to promote nationalism and culture among the people. This lasted till the rule of the Peshwas, Lord Ganesha was their revered. After this, at the time of independence movement, Bal Gangadhar Tilak started Ganeshotsav again to tie people to the thread of unity, so that all people gather together to worship Ganesha.
In 1893, Tilak started Ganeshotsav as a social and religious event. Political and social gathering was banned at that time under British rule. In such a situation, Ganeshotsav worked to unite people in the struggle for independence.
Famous Lalbagh Cha Raja of Mumbai
The most famous Pandal is said to be Laal Baagh Cha Raja.Lalbagh Cha Raja was established in 1934. This pandal is made in Lalbagh Parel area. Millions of people come to see Ganapati of this pandal. The specialty of the famous Ganapati here is that he fulfills the wishes of the devotees. The statue of Ganapati Bappa, the king of Lalbagh, is immersed in Girgaon Chowpatty.
